Gluten-Free Real Ale / Beer

We have a permanent gluten-free line on the bar. Normally it’s a pale or golden beer, but we do get some darker stours and porters in too sometimes.

Gluten-free beer tastes identical to ‘normal’ beer. It is treated with an enzyme during fermentation, which breaks down the gluten proteins, reducing the gluten level to below 20ppm, which is the level at which it can be labelled gluten-free.

Note that beers brewed in this way are still not suitable for people with wheat/barley allergies.

Whilst the beer pipes are ‘closed systems’ we cannot absolutely guarantee zero cross-contamination when beers are being served. Please talk to staff if you have any concerns.
