The Smedley Sessions

Live music at Wallace House presented by The Red Lion

Every month*, on the final Saturday, we gather at Wallace House to celebrate and enjoy the best music we can find. It might be local (Worcestershire); it might not be (New Zealand). It might make you dance, it might make you think, it might make you want to explore new genres. It will make you smile.

* Except December, honestly, there’s enough going on.

It will remind you why you love to indulge in live music, in a fantastic atmosphere, surrounded by friends (some of whom you’ve yet to meet).

Each night is run entirely by us here at The Red Lion, with a bar for your favourite and familiar drinks, and the welcoming, friendly atmosphere you’ve come to expect.

Samuel Wallace Smedley

Wallace House was created in 1946, when Samuel Wallace Smedley gave Mayor Alderman and the Burgesses of the Borough of Evesham a property (42 High Street), plus £10,000 to be used by the people of Evesham — an enormous amount at the time, perhaps £5,500,000 today.

Its purpose was to provide a facility for recreational, social, educational, and sporting opportunities, with a particular emphasis on young people, and non-political, non-religious clubs.

Wallace House thrives to this day, and we’re incredibly proud to be working so closely with an organisation that brings so much benefit to the people of Evesham.
