We’re gonna need a bigger pub… 175 keen quizzers abandoned The Red Lion as we set up shop in All Saints Church, just through the alleyway, for our first proper Christmas quiz, “No Room at the Inn”.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of everyone who attended, we raised £1,503.26 for Safeline, a specialist sexual abuse support charity who believe everyone who is affected by, or is at risk of, sexual abuse should feel supported and empowered.
Avonbank Brass Band were in attendance to entertain us with Christmas carols, and they also took over one of the rounds with some challenging questions — including a couple of carols played backwards. Meanwhile, Bad Santa trawled the church with a wheelbarrow full of stockings containing satsumas and gold coins.
Quiz host Sue took charge from the pulpit, with incredible homemade props for one of the rounds including a holiday amadillo and a (fake!) raw turkey. They were auctioned off at the end of the quiz.
Many thanks to everyone who helped out, and especially to All Saints Church for letting us put on such a madcap event. We’ll be back, bigger and better, next year.
