Otter Brewery
Honiton, Devon
Drawing water directly from the headsprings of the River Otter, what was a derelict farm is now home to a thriving brewery employing local people, surrounded by an abundance of wildlife and one that is able to recycle its own waste water. Their aim has always been to produce commercially viable beers that are full of integrity, provenance, real character and that are produced in an environmentally friendly way.
Cask ales we've stocked from Otter Brewery
Funk ‘n Soul is brewed with Calypso hops – Honey coloured, aromatic, light & fruity.
Holly Pale Ale is brewed with Calypso hops – Honey coloured, aromatic, light & fruity.
Otter Ale is where it all started. A premium ale must have full flavour and a fair strength without compromise. These two characteristics must be so cleverly balanced, that when the glass is returned to the table after that first slurp, a sigh of appreciation should be heard around the bar.
Otter Bright was one of the original really pale beers. ‘Bright’ made her debut in the summer of ’96 but has since earned a regular place in our full time line up. Originally designed to tempt lager drinkers from the dark-side, now a well respected trendsetter in the UK.
Otter Pale Ale is brewed using the famous American El Doardo, Amarillo and Calypso hops and our head brewer (Keith Bennett) has payed homage to these hops so when they meet the alcohol and malt, they meet in harmony – this delivers a balanced beer that drinkers of American Pales will come back for more. OPA is pale gold in colour and not overly carbonated to suit its style.
